The client
Zoppas Industries Heating Element Technologies is a manufacturer of electrical resistors and heating systems complete with electronic controls for domestic and industrial applications: from large to small household appliances, from space heating and air conditioning to the industrial market, guaranteeing solid skills and constant innovation in the development of heating systems.
Context
The availability of a smart home, connected and equipped with modern home automation devices, not only makes the life of those who live there more comfortable and safer but also contributes to improving the environment. For this reason, there are more and more products and technologies on the market in the air conditioning/heating, household appliances, lighting and security sectors capable of improving comfort and guaranteeing people's safety thanks to the use of a tablet or your phone.
The Research and Development team of Zoppas Industries, already present in this market with some solutions in the heating sector, had as its new objective to create a technology that would allow people to have full control of the home automation of each home they own, of individual domestic environments, at any time and from any place.
This is why the R&D team turns to us for technical and development support that allows them to manage an innovative heating system in two ways:
at home: allowing people to communicate directly with electric radiators connected to Wi-Fi, managing the entire heating system through their phone (as if it were a remote control);

Development process
To be able to respond to this need, we proposed to Zoppas Industries the development of a native application capable of managing the flow autonomously: from installation to connection to the Wi-Fi network of the radiators, from temperature control to setting the weekly programming, in each environment. An app that could be constantly updated, in order to show the user - through pleasant and personalized graphics - the real-time situation inside their home.
Once the analysis was concluded and the project was presented, we began the development of the Stone Connect Wi-Fi mobile application, for both Android and iOS, with the following features:
- management of the temperature of the house by selecting the individual rooms of interest (for example "Living room", "Bedroom", etc., ...);
- configuration and installation of radiators connected to your Wi-Fi network, placing them within a specific area;
- temperature control of each area, at any time and from any place;
- setting of the weekly programming for each environment;
- display of consumption and home consumption statistics;
- control of the situation inside your home, thanks to the possibility of setting the house, the zones and the radiators to be activated or not;
- sharing control of the heating system with another person, via invitation-only login to the app;
- setup of more than one home, each maintaining full control through a single app.
To obtain and guarantee excellent performance when using the app, both from inside and outside your home, we have created the possibility of tracking the individual radiators connected to Wi-Fi, in order to communicate directly with them and keep the app constantly updated.

Thanks to the development and implementation of this type of communication, we were able to satisfy a further need: configuring your heating system even in completely offline situations, i.e. using a Wi-Fi network not connected to the Internet. We have therefore designed an app capable of managing every situation, regardless of the internet connection. In the case of connection to the network, it is possible to immediately update the data through the back-end portal of the CONNETTENDO platform; however, in the case of a network failure, it is possible to record all the data offline and update them as soon as you return to a connection situation.
To complete the entire project, the creation of the design and user experience of the app to guide the user through the various flows of the application and particularly facilitate the process of configuring a new home, which otherwise could have been complex. With the right attention to individual details, both in terms of UX and graphics, the developed application accompanies the user throughout the procedure, in a fluid and intuitive manner. The design has been designed and adapted for both smartphone and tablet use.
